Good Morning

Good Morning Unity and Community;
What a great week of revival we had this week. Bro Parrish preached from Galatians 5:16-26 about "Walking in the Spirit." We had great attendance and Spirit led Praise and Worship. If you missed all or any of it, you missed a blessing. If you would like to here the series of messages, just let me know, we have them recorded.
God's love is amazing when we consider all that He has done for us, shown toward us, and will continue to do so. Just how much does God love us? That is the question that will be answered this morning at Unity when we consider, "The Whosoever of God's Love!" Come hear how God showed His love to us. Worship services start at 10:45. Sunday School starts at 9:45. Come and join us this morning.

Second Birth

I never loved the pleasant earth
So much as since my second birth.
The shy forget-me-not's soft blue
Seems bits of Heaven shining through.
The golden buttercup's bright face

Proclaims the glory of His Grace.
The red of maples in the fall
His precious Blood that washed all
My sins forever far away.
As white as hawthorn buds in May
The saint's new, shining , linen dress
The robe of His righteousness.
I touch the pansy's purple face
His kindly majesty I trace.
Green pastures breathe refreshment rest,
And sweet communion on His breast;
While birds song from orchard trees
Suggest celestial harmonies.
I see in river, hill, and glen
New charms since I've been born again!

Wanted: Dependable Person

     In virtually every classified section of the newspaper, we find some employer advertising for a "dependable person" to occupy some position of trust and responsibility. I have talked with many business owners who state that finding employees they can count on is their number one problem. No organization can succeed without dependable personnel. The lazy, irresponsible, hit-and-miss type is a shame to his company and hinders its effectiveness.

     It is equally true that the local congregation cannot be an effective organization unless it consists of "dependable" Christians; tht is, members who will shoulder their responsibilities along with the rest and cooperate to fulfill the mission of the church. While the Bible does not use the word "dependable," it does use equivalent terms such as "steadfast" and "zealous" (see 1 Corinthians 15;58; Titus 2:14, etc.). Every Christian should be characterized by these terms. He should be one who can be "Counted on" at all times. The sad, but true, fact of the matter is, however, that many congregations have a percentage of undependable members: members who couldn't hold down a job for a week if they conducted themselves toward their work like they do toward the church and its work. Let's look at a few examples.

     Most congregations adopt a particular series of studies for their Bible classes. This is to facilitate the edification program of the church. Members of the church need to be instructed in the knowledge of the Bible. But the effectiveness of the Bible classes and any sermon series is compromised because of those members who are present only now and then, and thus fail to receive the overall benefit from the series of lessons. To have a thoroughly effective edification probram, we need members whose presence we can depend upon.

     The Bible authorized a pooling of resources of the members on the first day of the week in order to facilitate the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). Obviously, any kind of budget or planned expenditure of funds from the church treasury depends upon the consistent, generous contribution of the members. The church needs members who are dependable in their contribution. We need those who not only are generous, but can be depended upon to plan ahead and give regularly. Because of some who give on an irregular, inconsistent basis, important work of the church must be curtailed, plans left unfulfilled, work not completed.

     The sum of all that we are trying to say is simply this: the church of our Lord needs each member to be dependable in shouldering our responsibilities, more didicated in our efforts to put the kingdom of God foremost in our lives. --

What Is Your Heart's Desire?

GOOD MORNING UNITY AND COMMUNITY;
What a week! It was Church Camp week at Budd Creek near Geers Ferry, AR. 13 churches present, 197 registered campers, of whom 17 were 6 and under. 32 came to know Jesus as Savior and many other lives changed.
How come so many are saved at camp? Is it because of pressure? Or, is it because there is a desire to see people saved at camp. Churches bring children of all ages, races, and conditions. There is a great desire to see people to come to an encounter with Jesus. The world is shut out. No TV, no video games, just a constant reminder three times a day that Jesus Saves and He is willing to save them. A lot of adults needs this kind of week where the world is shut out from them and all week all they here is about Jesus.
This morning we will be looking at a subject entitled "What Is Your Heart's Desire?" Many people have all kinds of desires, but what is your desires? Come join us at 9:45 for Sunday School and 10:45 for worship! Pray I see you there and you have an encounter with Jesus today!!!!!!!
