You'll Do It!

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckled replied
That 'maybe' it couldn't but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so 'till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in, with a trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried, he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, but he DID it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that,
At least no one has ever done it."
But he toook off his coat and the took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it;
With a lift of his chin, and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubt ofr quibbling;
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he DID it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done;
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you;
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Then take off your coat and go for it;
Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done" and you'll Do it.

Ideals in Construction

A builder builded a temple,
   He wrought it with grace and skill,
Pillars and groins and arches,
   All fashioned to work his will.
Men said as they saw its beauty,
   "It shall never know decay.
Great is thy skill, O Builder,
   Thy fame shall endure for aye."

A teacher builded a temple
   With loving and infinite care,
Planning each arch with patience,
   Laying each stone with prayer.
None praised his unceasing efforts,
   None knew of His wondrous plan,
For the temple the teacher builded
   Was unseen by the eye of man.

Gone is the builder's temple,
   Crumbled into the dust;
Low lies each stately pillar,
   Food for consuming rust.
But the temple the teacher builded
   Will last the ages roll,
For that beautiful unseen temple
   Is a child's immortal soul.

We Lie In Far Off Lands

In far-off fields strange poppies grow
Between the crosses, row on row
  That mark our place; while in the sky
  The birds no longer singing fly,
'Mid planes above and guns below.

We are the dead; short days ago
  We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
  In far-off fields.

O, keep our torch of faith aglow!
To banish war; let nations know
  That, if aggression's hands untie
  The scourge of war, yours will reply,
So long as human blood shall flow.

We are the dead; if to and fro
Across our graves fresh armies go,
  We shall not sleep; to us you owe
  And end of war while poppies grow,
In far-off fields.

Never Forget

Good Morning Unity and Community;
Just another cloudy, rainy day here in DeWitt. But the Son is shinning at Unity. This weekend and Monday all kinds of celebrations are taking place in our country. Some are celebrating a three day weekend. Some will remember why we are able to celebrate. It is because of those brave men and women who gave the ultimate price that we have the freedom we have today. I am proud to stand and remember these and salute them for their bravery. God bless their families and I pray God will continue to bless America and the brave men and women who are still serving today.
Just as important as it is to remember these fallen heroes, let us never forget the One who paid the ultimate price for you and me. The One who was faultless, sinless, and gave Himself freely for you and me. Yes! I am referring to Jesus Christ. Those who gave their lives for us and this country, gave us freedom for a very short time in this life compared to eternity. Jesus gave His life that we might have life eternal. Only that kind of love could save you and me. Jesus said, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man would lay down his life for a friend." Jesus called you friend whether you accept Him or not because He gave his life for all of mankind.
This morning at Unity at 10:45, we will be looking at some events in the Bible that we as children of God should never forget. Won't you come and join us. Following services, we will be making our way to Lake Marrisack for an afternoon of food, fellowship, and fun. Don't worry about the rain we have a large pavilion rented. Come join us today.

Are All The Children In?

Are all the children in?
Are all the children in? The night is falling,
And the storm clouds gather in the threatening west;
The lowing cattle seek a friendly shelter;
The bird flies to her nest;
The thunder clashes; wilder grows the tempest,
And darkness settles o'er the fearful din;
Come, shut the door, and gather round the hearthstone
Are all the children in?
Are all the children in? The night is fallling,
When gilded sin doth walk about the street,
Oh, at last it biteth like a serpent!
Poisoned are stolen sweets.
O mothers! guard the feet of inexperience,
Too prone to wander in the paths of sin!
Oh, shut the door of love against temptation!
Are all the children in?
Are all the childern in? The night is falling,
The night of death is hastening on apace;
The Lord is calling, "Enter thou thy chamber,
And tarry there a space."
And when He comes, the King in all His glory,
Who died the shameful death our hearts to win,
Oh, may the gates of heaven shut about us,
With all the children in.
