Occupied FOR or WITH Jesus?

Martha in the kitchen, serving with her hands;
Occupied for Jesus, with her pots and pans,
Loving Him, yet fevered, burdened to the brim,
Careful, troubled Martha, occupied for Him.

Mary on the footstool, eyes on her Lord;
Occupied with Jesus, drinking in His Word,
This the one thing needful, all else strangely dim:
Loving, resting Mary, occupied with Him.

So may we, like Mary, choose the better part.
Resting in His presence--hands and feet and heart;
Drinking in His wisdom, strengthened with His grace;
Waiting for the summons, eyes upon His face.

When it comes, we're ready, spirit, will, and nerve;
Mary's heart to worship, Martha's hands to serve;
This the rightful order, as our lamps we trim,
Occupied with Jesus, then occupied for Him!

What Are You Living For?

Good Morning Unity and Community;
"What Are You Living For?" This is a very deep thought when we really stop and consider the question. Everybody should be living for some reason. Now ask yourself this question, "Who Am I Living For?" Paul reminds us in Philippians 1:21 that, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Living this life should be a life living for Christ. Most people are living for material gain. Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21, "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Did you get that last verse? You can tell a lot of times if someone is living for Christ by what is important to them. Come this morning to see "What You Are Living For?" Worship services begin at 10:45. Pray I see you there!!!!

Living As We Pray

I knelt to pray when the day was done,
And prayed, "Oh Lord bless every one,
Lift from every saddened heart the pain,
And let the sick be well again."

And then I woke another day,
And carelessly went upon my way.
The whole day long I did not try
To wipe a tear from any eye.

I did not try to share the load
Of any brother on the road.
I did not even go see
The sick man just next door to me.

Yet once again when day was done,
I prayed "Oh lord bless everyone."
But as I prayed, unto my ear
There came a voice whispered clear,

"Pause, hypocrite, before you pray.
Whom have you tried to bless today?
God's sweetest blessings always go,
By hand which serve Him below."

And then I hid my face and cried
"Forgive me, God for I have lied.
Let me but live another day,
And I will live the way I pray!"

A Pastor's Prayer

Good Morning Unity and Community;
What does it take for a church to be successful? What attributes should a church have? What does the pastor of the church pray for when he prays about the church he pastors? This morning at Unity, we will address these question. I will share with you my prayer for Unity as Paul prayed for the Philippians. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe God answers prayers. I also believe that He answers those prayers in His time. Sometimes we become discourage when our prayers are not answered right away. I have personally known people who prayed everyday for 51 years before their prayer was answered. Others waited and waited until God answered their prayer. My philosophy on prayer is this P.U.S.H.This stands for Pray Until Something Happens. If churches and individuals would pray like this, it would be amazing what might take place in the Lord's people and His Churches. I invite you this morning to come to Unity. Don't let Satan give you and excuse. Remember, Satan's excuses will not stand in the day of judgment. Worship services begin at 10:45. Pray I see all of you there.

I Know Something Good About You

Wouldn't the world be better,
If folks whom we meet would say,
"I know something good about you,"
And treat you just that way?

Wouldn't it be splendid,
If each handshake, good and true,
Carried with it this assurance:
"I know something good about you?"

Wouldn't life be happier,
If the good that's in us all,
Were the only thing about us
That people would recall?

Wouldn't our days be sweeter,
If we praised the good we see;
For there is a lot of goodness,
In the worst of you and me?

Wouldn't it be fine to practice,
This way of thinking too;
You know something good about me,
I know something good about you?
